    The We Believe of Philosophers: Implicit Epistemologies and Unexamined Psychologies.P. A. Mcgavin & T. A. Hunter - 2014 - International Philosophical Quarterly 54 (3):279-296.
The ethical theory espoused by a philosopher is often dominated by certain implicit epistemological assumptions. These “ways of knowing” may in turn be dominated by personality preferences that give rise to certain preferred worldviews that undergird various philosophies. Such preferred worldviews are seen in We believe positions, stated or unstated. The meaning of these claims about the interconnections of unexamined assumptions and their philosophical implications may be seen through an example. This paper will examine certain crucial aspects of the thought (...)

What characterizes life story memories? A diary study of Freshmen’s first term.Dorthe Kirkegaard Thomsen, Martin Hammershøj Olesen, Anette Schnieber, Thomas Jensen & Jan Tønnesvang - 2012 - Consciousness and Cognition 21 (1):366-382.
We investigated whether memories are selected for the life story based on event characteristics. Sixty-one students completed weekly diaries over their first term at university. They described, dated and rated two events each week. Three months after the end of the term they completed an unexpected memory test. They recalled three memories from the diary period that were important to their life story. Three randomly selected events scoring low on importance to the life story functioned as control memories. Life story (...)

    Ethical aspects of clinical decision-making.I. Kollemorten, C. Strandberg, B. M. Thomsen, O. Wiberg, T. Windfeld-Schmidt, V. Binder, L. Elsborg, C. Hendriksen, E. Kristensen, J. R. Madsen, M. K. Rasmussen, L. Willumsen, H. R. Wulff & P. Riis - 1981 - Journal of Medical Ethics 7 (2):67-69.
The aim of the present investigation was to describe and to classify significant ethical problems encountered by the members of the staff during the daily clinical work at a hospital medical department. A set of definitions was prepared for the purpose, including the definition of a 'significant ethical problem'. During a three month period 426 inpatients and 173 outpatients were admitted. Significant ethical problems were encountered during the management of 106 in-patients (25 per cent) and 9 out-patients (5 per cent). (...)

Bad Apples, Bad Barrels, and Broken Followers? An Empirical Examination of Contextual Influences on Follower Perceptions and Reactions to Aversive Leadership.Christian N. Thoroughgood, Samuel T. Hunter & Katina B. Sawyer - 2011 - Journal of Business Ethics 100 (4):647 - 672.
Research on destructive leadership has largely focused on leader characteristics thought to be responsible for harmful organizational outcomes. Recent findings, however, demonstrate the need to examine important contextual factors underlying such processes. Thus, the present study sought to determine the effects of an organization's climate and financial performance, as well as the leader's gender, on subordinate perceptions of and reactions (i.e., whistle-blowing intentions) to aversive leadership, a form of destructive leadership based on coercive power. 302 undergraduate participants read through a (...)

(Un)Ethical Leadership and Identity: What Did We Learn and Where Do We Go from Here? [REVIEW]Samuel T. Hunter - 2012 - Journal of Business Ethics 107 (1):79-87.
The purpose of this article is to highlight and comment on the key findings emerging from the collective efforts of the special issue on leadership, ethics, and identity. Highlights include definitional advancements, processes comprising ethical leadership, as well as outcomes and moderating factors. In addition, I attempt to synthesize work across authors by identifying common themes as well as conflicting elements in the article. I conclude with a discussion on emerging areas in need of future research investigation in the leadership (...)
